County’s Eastern Branch Library to Reopen Thursday

Newsbrief - Monmouth County

Written by MC Public Information Office Thursday, 04 February 2010 14:33

Water main break repaired at Shrewsbury location

SHREWSBURY, NJ – The Eastern Branch of the Monmouth County Library, 1001 Route 35 North, will reopen for business at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4.

A water main break outside of the library building caused the suspension of all operations at this county library site for a day and a half. A county work crew performed the necessary repair work to the water main providing for the reopening of the second busiest county library location on Thursday morning.

The Eastern Branch circulates more than 40,000 items a month.  The entire library system circulates more than 3.6 million items annually with the Headquarters location in Manalapan being the busiest library in the system.

While the library was closed, library patrons were encouraged to visit other branch libraries to renew or borrow books, DVDs, CDs or other materials. Patrons can always renew lending materials online.

In addition to the Eastern Branch and Headquarters, other Monmouth County branch libraries are in Allentown, Colts Neck, Hazlet, Holmdel, Howell, Marlboro, Ocean Township, Oceanport, Wall and West Long Branch.  To get the address and times of individual branch libraries visit the county Web site at www.visitmonmouth.com or call the library Headquarters at

732-431-7220 or use the TTY Hearing Impaired relay 732-845-0064.
