"A Time for Everything Under Heaven", Annual Jazz Service Benefits Family Promise of Monmouth County on March 1, 2018 at 7:30 pm
LINCROFT, NJ – For the past five years, Lincroft Presbyterian Church (www.lincroftpc.org), has transformed its sanctuary into a jazz lounge for an evening of classic jazz music performed by local professional musicians. This year’s evening, A Time for Everything Under Heaven" on Thursday March 1, 2018 at 7:30 pm. will benefit Family Promise of Monmouth County (www.familypromisemc.org), the only shelter for homeless families with children in Monmouth County. “The power of music unites all people and demonstrates how we can use our talents and gifts to be a force of hope and help for families in need in our community,” says Reverend Diane Ford, pastor of Lincroft Presbyterian Church.
John Morrison, a trumpeter, retired music teacher and the Church’s Choir Director, who conceived the Jazz evening added, “"For me there's no better way of benefitting Family Promise than enjoying an evening of music along with these fine musicians."
Musicians slated to accompany John Morrison include:
- • Pianist Timothy Broege, a nationally renowned composer and music director at Belmar Presbyterian Church;
- • Guitarist Doug Clarke, an in-demand jazz sideman, and a prodigy of Tal Farlow;
- • Drummer John Gronert who has performed with The Drifters and Darius Brubeck, and was a student of Joe Morello and Sonny Igoe;
- • String Bass and Guitarist Robert Marriner who has played with the Platters, Little Anthony, the Duprees and the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra.
Lincroft Presbyterian Church, a family-style congregation, offers a hands-on Children’s Sunday School program, Youth Group, weekly Adult Discussion, Women’s Bible Study & Weekend Retreat, a Men’s Group, an active choir and more.
